MAQUOKETA, IOWA- The Jackson County Fair Board will again sponsor an Outstanding Fair Family at the 2012 Jackson County Fair.

The contest is undergoing a new format which has enhanced the honor. The Jackson County Fair Board wishes to acknowledge families that have been involved with the Jackson County Fair over the past years or in the present.

The Outstanding Fair Family is selected by the Fair Board, and will be formally announced on Sunday, July 22 in the Pearson Center prior to the crowning of the 2012 Fair Queen. All of the family members are expected to be present.

When nominating the family, the members of the board take in consideration that the families should demonstrate support, dedication, and commitment in their involvement with the Jackson County Fair.

This yearŐs Outstanding Fair Family, is the family of Ruth Ann Scott from Monmouth, Iowa. Her husband Doug Scott was a very active member of 4-H and the fair before his death, and the rest of the family is also very involved with the fair. Mark Scott is part of the Jackson County Fair Association and helped develop the Hug-a-Hog contest. Her grandchildren continue to compete in the Bill Riley Talent Contest which takes place each year during the fair.

The Outstanding Fair Family will receive free fun cards, and have special seating in the Grandstand during the fair. They will also be introduced at various times throughout the fair. The Jackson County Fair Association commends the Scott family on their hard work and dedication to the fair and is proud to award them this honor.
